A very rare ballooning barograph, circa 1900, by the renowned French instrument makers - Richard (Freres).
This miniature barograph was hung within the rigging of the balloon, using metal loops on the top and underside of the instrument.
It is in very good original condition and has been sympathetically restored. The clockwork movement within the drum runs well. An interesting point is the paper chart on the drum has a trace from a flight signed in 1929.
Early ballooning items such as this are very difficult to find. An identical instrument can be seen on display in the aviation section of the Science Museum, London.
A highly collectable instrument.
This Early Altimeter is Very Rare.
