A very rare and particularly fine French ballooning or airship chronograph pocket watch. Signed Allion Versailles, who supplied similar watches, clocks and instruments to the French Air Service.

Circa 1914.

In overall very good original condition. The case is 'blued' with no signs of corrosion although there is very light wear in places. The dial and hands are excellent, crisp and clean. Unusually the hour and minute hands are brass on this example.

The instrument has been fully overhauled and is keeping very good time with chronograph functions operating correctly.

A highly collectable early aviation chronograph.
