A World War Two German barometric altimeter reading km/height.
This is the type of altimeter that was fitted to Luftwaffe fighter planes such as the Messerschmitt ME109, Focker-Wulf FW190, and most interestingly - the ME 262 Jet.
The needle on this altimeter moves, which indicates that it is working, although it is not calibrated. This instrument works on the principle that the pilot either sets the ambient pressure at sea level or the current altitude and then the altimeter can use the change of air pressure as the aircraft rises or descends in order to work out the current height. It does not require power, so can be demonstrated in the home.
This instrument is clearly marked Fl 22320 and was almost certainly used operationally in the Second World War.
In excellent original condition.
